Elaine Phelps is thrilled to add her voice to this special ensemble after a lifelong passion for choral singing. She earned a Bachelors of Music Education, voice concentration, from Appalachian State University and a Masters in Music Education from UNC Greensboro. She also studied organ at ASU. She has taught K-8 general music, chorus and Orff percussion ensembles in Cabarrus, Winston-Salem Forsyth, and Davidson County Schools. She created and led the Upper School choral program at Summit School in Winston-Salem for 9 years. She is currently the K-5 music specialist at the Appalachian State Academy at Middle Fork lab school in Walkertown. In addition to her teaching career, she has sung in the Concert Choir of Salisbury, Winston-Salem Symphony Chorus, several area church choirs and worked with children’s choirs and Orff classes at several churches. She and her husband, Mike, live in Clemmons with their son, daughter and feisty chihuahua/terrier.
